Save the date wording needs your names, the wedding date, and the location guests should keep in mind. Add a note that you will send the invitation later. You can keep the message warm without filling it with arrangements you have not confirmed.
Use the examples below as starting points. Replace the placeholders before sharing them.
A local wedding
Please save 18 September [year] for our wedding in [city]. We would love to celebrate with you. Your invitation will follow once we have the day’s details ready. With love, [names].
Use a city name even if most friends know where you live. Your home town and wedding location may differ.
For a shorter text message:
Hi [guest names], we have booked our wedding for [date] in [city]. Please keep the day free for us. We will send your invitation with the times and details later. Love, [names].
Name the recipients so a guest can understand whether you mean one person or a household.
A destination wedding
Save [date] for our wedding in [city, country]. We wanted to share the date early so you can consider the trip. We will send the venue details and invitation later. With love, [names].
Mention an optional travel window if you have confirmed a weekend programme. Avoid implying that guests must attend several days of events when you plan to offer them a choice.
You can add: “We understand that travel may take some planning. Please contact us if you need information before the invitation arrives.”
A wedding weekend
Please keep [date range] in mind for our wedding weekend in [location]. Our ceremony will take place on [date]. We will share the other celebrations and invitation once we confirm the schedule. [names].
The ceremony date deserves its own sentence. Guests who can attend for one day should know which day to consider.
Details to leave for the invitation
Keep your RSVP deadline, meal choices, and final arrival time for the full invitation unless you have confirmed those arrangements. A guest cannot make an informed commitment from a date alone.
Use your own names and voice. You can write “we’re getting married” without adopting a formal host line.
Prepare the next stage in the Our Yes Day app: add the ceremony, venues, and RSVP details to a draft. Open the demo before creating yours. You can finish the wording before paying to share the invitation.
